New Heights Career Development Center

New Heights Career Development Center

The Problem

  • According to the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS), there are approximately 600,000 adults in Louisiana who do not have a high school diploma or HiSET.
  • LCTCS also note that 44% of adults without high school diploma or HiSET are not participating in the workforce.

Our Solution

The new Heights Career Development Center addresses the needs of individuals who do not have a high school diploma or HiSET, which significantly challenges their ability to support their families with gainful employment.  We partner with colleges in the area for students to receive continual education and employment agencies to increase the chances of them entering into the workforce.

Our Impact

  • The New Heights Career Development Center has graduated over 100 students from our programs, of which 86 percent of the over-all students gains in academic achievement.
  • East Baton Rouge Parish is one of the leading parishes for adult education performance in the state of Louisiana. The New Heights Career Development Center is one of the top programs in the East Baton Rouge Parish
  • Our program provides individuals with education and work readiness skills that increase self-reliance, which in turn, decrease dependency on governmental assistance.
